TapVIN is operated by VeraForge Technologies Corp.

1. What TapVIN is

A free tool to decode VINs and surface open safety recalls in plain language.

2. What TapVIN is not

Not a paid vehicle history report. Not a mechanical inspection. Not a substitute for a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic.

3. Accuracy and sources

We surface data from NHTSA, EPA, and Transport Canada. We do not guarantee the completeness or accuracy of upstream data.

4. Commute estimates

Fuel economy and cost figures are estimates based on EPA data, or where EPA data is missing, deterministic approximations that are clearly labeled as such. They are not a guarantee of real-world cost.

5. Sign-in

Required only for saving vehicles and commute comparisons. It is free.

6. Acceptable use

No scraping, no automated bulk lookups, no attempts to circumvent rate limits, and no use of TapVIN to harass sellers or buyers.

7. Intellectual property

The TapVIN brand and code are owned by VeraForge Technologies Corp.. Upstream data belongs to its respective sources.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

TapVIN is provided as is, without warranties of any kind.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions made based on TapVIN output. Always inspect a vehicle before you buy.

We may suspend access for abuse. You can stop using TapVIN at any time.
